I love having different bowls at home – from here and there – some are gifts and some I’ve bought myself. My Mum used to do pottery – I love what she made. A good place to see quite a wide range of Japanese and other bowls is the Madu shop in Aoyama Tokyo  – it’s French stye cafe next door is quite nice also for a light Croque Monsieur lunch.

My friend Fumiko Iishihara launched an online shop called “Hibinokurashi” with only Japanese pottery available for international shipment. You have to be fast to order because all are hand made – so quantity is limited. I try to forget about the site sometimes because everything looks and is so beautiful that I easily get into the shopping mode.

For Christmas I got a lovely square dish – with a graphic pattern – for my Dad – the kind of thing to put his keys into when coming home – or keep on his night table for this and that.

い出さないようにしているくらいです。
