We had the pleasure of being filmed for NHK – broadcasted on October 30th at 6am (sorry a bit early). The broadcast is about food and about how we celebrate Halloween living in Japan. Our special guests were our friends Yoshiko Kris Webb with her adorable girls Ninon and Beni.

Well, as I told the journalist, we really take what we want from this tradition and make it ours with three nationalities under one roof and living in Japan – we can do that.

Growing up in Switzerland we celebrated the end of the harvest allthough we did not name it Halloween it is a little similar – at least at it’s origin. But you will be able to read more about that in the coming week.

So for NHK we had our Halloween costumes ready : my girl wants to be a bat and my boy a devil.

The pumpkins were ready to be carved. I made some Swiss biscuits called ‘Mailaenderli’ in the shape of pumpkins, ghosts and cats which the children could decorate. We used sugar water as ‘glue’ and choco and sugar sprinkles for scary – or cute decorations.

We made marshmallow ghots with chocolate eyes and ghost milkshake glasses. Yum yum!

My girls taught the other kids how to make bat, pumpkin and ghost decorations to hang up or put on a string to make garlands. It was wonderful!

NHKの撮影に協力しました―10月30日am6:00からの放送です（ちょっと朝早いけど）。内

容は日本に暮らす外国人が祝うハロウィーン。友人のヨシコとその可愛い子ども達、ニノンとベニを特別ゲストに招待しました。

記者に話したとおり、私はこの伝統行事の良いところを取り入れて日本に住みながら3つの国籍が混ざった私たち流のハロウィーンにすることにしました。

スイスで育った私にとっては収穫を祝うお祭りはもう少し素朴で、よく似ていましたがハロウィンという名前ではありませんでした。この行事についてはまた別の機会に触れたいと思っています。

NHKの撮影にはコスチュームを用意しました。娘はこうもり、息子は悪魔の変装です。

かぼちゃを彫ってジャックオランタンを作りました。私はスイスのクッキー「マイランデリ」をかぼちゃ、おばけ、猫の形に焼き、子供たちにデコレーションしてもらいました。砂糖水をのり代わりに使い、チョコスプレーやシュガースプレーなどで怖いのや可愛いのを作りました。

マシュマロにチョコレートで顔を描き、おばけを作りました。ミルクシェイクのグラスにもチョコレートでお化けの目を描きおいしくいただきました！

女の子達はこうもりやおばけ、かぼちゃをガーランドにする飾りを作るやり方をお友達に教えていました。素敵なデコレーションができました！
